anyone else is waiting on vawa?
my situation is complicated. I came here on visitor status from Canada, got married on the last day of my i94 last lermitted day, filed 3 days after. filed for 765, 485 and 131 after. I don’t have a lawyer. my relationship is very mentally abusive and some physically. march 27 2024 I applied for. vawa. I am waiting on 131 because my mom passed away in January and I was denied emergency 131. i feel hopeless, very depressed, mentally burned and I don’t know how long it will take to have an approval on my 131, so I can at least reunite with my family, get out of this relationship (had divorced already) but still stuck living woth him and his abusive behavior. can someone reassure me and say that they have a similar case or close to it so I won’t lose hope or my sanity!!

@cat kaufman first, I am really sorry for your loss. Why would they deny you an emergency AP for this situation?

i don’t know. forst I applied for an expedite. they made me wait. i called to have an appointment they denied because of not having the appropriate papers. I had a death certificate and an explanation letter. after uscis (info center) told me that I can apply for emergency. got denied because the fineral is passed. so all that time waiting and playing back and forth, the funeral passed and I am still waiting on approval. my grand father passed in April, same story

parole based on vawa will take at least 6 to 8 months.
my dad was sick and I applied for emergency parole and they denied and I waited total 17 months to get parole and I traveled on that parole. even I sent them medical record of my dads seriousness they don’t care simply
they denied it and I waited 17 months.

@cat kaufman i am really sorry that you went through this. Not sure what happened but people are being approved for emergency AP even for less 😔 i am so sorry. Please be strong and keep your head high. You got this and I promise you it will get better

@cat kaufman I am so very sorry that you're experiencing all that you are. I'm not sure why they would deny you anything under those circumstances but we are all still trying to figure out how uscis works. I'm curious though...what became of those applications before you applied for vawa?

I’m so sorry to hear this. instead of expediting, you should have scheduled an info pass appointment and go to their office with the necessary document. They will stamp your passport once you have the document. I did the same, although they didn’t stamp my passport because I didn’t go along with my birth certificate to show my relationship but the officer told me he’ll send an email with the document I presented and I should hear back in 3days. 3days after the appointment, they approved my pending EAD/AP.

i ask for for an appointment and they are bot giving me one because they beed to have a burial date. NOW, my mom is buried because of the wait time on immigration part. they couldn’t wait longer
