any OPT F-1 students on here filing I-485?
my i-765 has been pending for 7 months and my opt expires in 1.5 months- do you think uscis might be waiting to review my case closer to my opt expiration date? 63% of i-765 from my submission date have been approved and of the remaining 37%, only 18% total are actively processing with mine (others have different statuses) so it is definitely very slow. data from casestatusext (google it)

I’m in a very similar situation: also on OPT with current EAD expiring mid July and filed for I-485 and I-765 in October. I just submitted an expedite request for the I-765 today, hoping that will help me get a new EAD on time…

i filed a request 3 weeks ago but still havent heard anything… i had to resubmit an i-485 application so have a second approval notice- im tempted to try to file another i-765 linked to that in case it gets processed faster but not sure if thatll randomly get me denied or something

@Elisha B. Avery similar to you. I’ve been waiting for my expedite request response for 8 days now. OPT EAD expires July😵 live agent and a lady on the phone told me to keep waiting and that they don’t know anything..

@Elisha B. @Sept 2022 hey, try reaching out to Emma and request to speak with tier2 agent regarding the expedite request that you both submitted earlier. They should be able to call you back within 72 hours. In the mean time, prepare all your supporting documents in case uscis asked you to submit the most recent evidence. Wish you both luck!!

I’m on STEM OPT, alsoapplied for marriage based I-765with I-485. My STEM OPT expires in 3 weeks and marriage based I-765 is still not moving. I don’t think USCIS is waiting to review your marriage based I-765 at the end of your OPT….they are just slow.

I was in a similar situation with mine expiring this month (June). 2 days ago I got the approval for me form I-765. I believe they wait until you are closer to the end of your OPT date.

@laura v You need to request for an expedited process so you don’t risk losing your job. That should also be a reason you give when asked for why you wanna expedite. Get a HR from your HR, stating that you will be unable to continue to work in 45 days.
