18 months is longer than what most DACA advance parole cases are taking right now. Many people are seeing approvals in about 4 to 8 months, though some still take up to a year depending on the service center.
Since you have been waiting 18 months, you should check if your case is outside normal processing time on the USCIS website. If it is, you can submit a service request asking USCIS to review the delay.
You can also contact your local congressperson to make an inquiry about the case. That sometimes helps move very delayed applications. If you have an urgent reason to travel, you can also request an expedite with proof of the emergency.
