Advanced parol for a Canadian sick father
Hi everyone out there. I am Canadian married to a US citizen and I filed for an adjustment of status. and I am trying this app. I am happy that it exists even if it is just a support for others. I applied and got a receipt date of March 15th. I did my biometrics on April 10th. My application is currently being reviewed it says and is with the National Benifits Center.
I was wondering what type of time frames people have with advanced parole approval from NBC? My father has terminal cancer and I am going to ask for expidited approval but not emergency as he could still be alive in 6 months but I doubt it. My immigration lawyer said it is not guaranteed they will approve it as it is not an emergency one. I read that I can contact a congress person and if they help, I could possibly get approved.
I would appreciate feedback. Thank you.

firstly I’m so sorry you and your family are going through this. if it was me, I’d try to get approval under emergency… see what they say. I’ve been waiting 11.5 months and still haven’t received my travel permit. no idea why but they are rarely approved early or at all in this process. good luck to you.

thank you for taking the time to reply. I think the emergency might just be the best way to go. Thank you

hey! sorry about your father! I’d def try the emergency route in this case, maybe get a letter from your fathers doctor and maybe his ‘diagnosis’? not sure what people send in under those circumstances. my receipt date was 2/22 and I just got an approval notice a few days ago for the I-765 but it also mentions the approval of advance parole and my lawyer said it’s a combo card they’ll be sending me. And from what I understood online to receive the card can take another 3weeks at least. so anything is possible. I assume it depends on your case as well. I only send in my medical exam a month later and I read online somewhere that they pause all applications if there was a request for initial evidence which for me was the Medical exam. that receipt notice for me was 4/10 and 3 weeks later I got the approval of the EAD/combo card.

hi, I hope you see my reply. Not sure how to reply to a post. I am going to try the emergency option as you suggested. It is an emergency for me to go. I have asked two of his doctors to write me letters and they both said yes. I feel that all of this, immigration, is very hurtful to so many people. I am greatful that I can afford to apply for this as I am required to pay again for the emergency application. I think of people who cannot pay for it. Very happy to read that you got application for travel approved. I like reading about the positives on this app. Thank you for taking the time to reply to me.
