Only green card holders are eligible to apply and obtain re-entry permit if they plan to travel outside the U.S. for over one year. Advance Parole is for people who have pending application for green card and need to travel outside the U.S. I believe people with pending asylum application and DACA status are also eligible to apply for advance parole. But if you already have asylum or refugee status you will need to apply for RTD (Refugee Travel Document) in order to travel abroad.
