Adjustment of Status requirements
Hi everyone, My VAWA case just got approved. My lawyer and I are working to see if the Department of Homeland security can terminate my immigration case hearing. Anybody knows the lists of requirements needed for Adjustment of status or I 485? In addition, how long usually adjustment of status takes? Anybody here who have had an experience that they filed I485 separate due to a removal proceedings? Thank you and I appreciate all your response.😊

@Chucks chachacha December 2020. it's been over 3 years and USCIS finally made a decision. πŸ™πŸ™

you will file a joint motion to reopen & terminate your removal proceedings based on your vawa approval. it will take two weeks to 3 months. then you will file your I-485 adjustment of status. green card after filing will take between 8 to 15 months. this is not a legal advice. good luck and congrats 🎊

Pretty much the same @red dead said but in my case the DHS joint the motion and the judge dismiss my case. But when I filled for I-360 I also filled for I-485 (even tho is risky to loose the money in case they denied because of the court) which it didn’t happen. The court was dismissed in 2 months after DHS joint the motion, November last year. Back in July USCIS requested my medical exame and I sent them, they updated as received and nothing changed so far. I already submitted an inquire about my case but no response and I also contacted my senator but they said USCIS is taking up to 1 month to respond which I’m still waiting as well.

@red dead yes that's what exactly we are doing now. I'm just curious the list of requirements to submit with USCIS for Adjustment of status.

@Jane doe do you know a list of requirements to submit for an adjustment of status? thanks

@C D I see, I hope adjustment of status is not taking too long. I'm worried because I'm in school right now and I need a permanent residency status to take the license exam.πŸ™πŸ™πŸ˜

@bogata bogata What are you studying? If you don't mind me asking. I did nursing and I was able to use my home country passport to do the licensure exam. It was accepted the only demrawback is that I didn't get a multi state license however, when I received my residency I can go ahead and change it. Check it out call the licensing body and find out the requirements

@Nik Nelly I am in a Nursing program too. I have my passport but they need a permanent residency status per my school. Did you study recently or been a while? I've heard their policies are constantly changes.

I started Feb 2020 graduated in Jan 2023 Sat the licensing exam in Feb 2023. I have my license and I used my passport as identification. My license is clear and active the 28th of this month will be 1 year since I'm license. Call the licensing authority. The only thing is that you will get a single state license and then when you get a US identification you resubmit an application with a fee to get a multistate license

@Nik Nelly Thank you for the information. I will reach out to my school coordinator again soon. I am still three semesters away, so I still have time. I just hope adjustment of status won't take too long to process. Hopefully, they will allow me in the future to take the nclex exam using my passport from my country. Thank you for the info again.😊

@bogata bogata You will be fine, you are at a good place in terms of timing. You are almost at the end of your immigration road and at an advance stage in the process of becoming a RN. I did the NCLEX and was successful at the Ist attempt.Went in and within 1hour and 20mins I was out with almost 3 hours on the clock. All with my passport. I now have my RN License. It will be well for you trust the Lord in all things. God is faithful to complete that which he has started.

I would like to get your contact information lol so we can keep in touch if you dont mind. and....also in terms of Nursing stuff. That is impressive that you took the exam only once! wowπŸ‘ I give you kudos on that because nursing is a lot.
