Additional proof requested for expedited EAD
My wife was received an email yesterday requesting for proof on her request to expedite EAD, we faxed whatever was required with reason due to financial challenge.
Has anyone had experience with expedited and was asked to faxed supporting documents? If so, what’s to be expected? How long is the turn around time? Rate of approval vs denial?

what supporting documents did you send them?
Lilo PelekaiDec 11, 2021
Yves - Yes, it's normal procedure to request evidence of your claim.
as for the rate of approval for expedite requests, it is very low. the stronger you build your case the better. but even the strongest cases have seen denial to expedite. so, from there on, they will either grant you the expedite, or deny it. it all depends on the officer working your request, as they make decisions at their own discretion.
with all this being said, best of luck, and hopefully they expedite your case. 🙂

forgot to mention, first request was denied, this was a second expedite request which got further requesting for additional supporting documents. we submitted bank statements, credit card statements, and a $16K worth of medical bills.
our congressman also has an expedite request on my wife’s behalf, so hoping to get an approval somehow.

Yves - the medical bills should help, and I hope they do. 🤞🙂

manizha - look up #expediterequest in the app. you will see a post titled How To: EXPEDITE REQUEST. I gave instructions on how to do it with your congress representative in that post. 🙂

how long did it take you to get an email after submitting the expedite request?
Yv3S VDec 12, 2021
40 days. they have a 30 day lapse time, wife has to call back and check on status at day 30. she called after we faxed her supporting documents, and was informed another 10-days.
Yv3S VDec 12, 2021
@lilo, we’re hoping, just the wait is a little stressful at times for her. she already has a job offer so EAD is critical.
l sDec 12, 2021
u mean by submitting the doccoments for expidate 40 days you got approval

@manizha, good luck with the congressman route. let me know if you need additional guidance. this community has been an awesome resource.

@maniza, the first expedite request was denied after a few days as there wasn’t enough evidence, so wife called and requested for another expedite, at which point she was given a 30-day timeline. at 30-day there was still no activity to her case so she called again, and she was then given a 10-day timeline. at day 10(40 total), she received the email to send in supporting documents for her financial hardship expedite request. now we wait again for 10-days. at the same time we also have our congressman’s expedite request pending which they have to respond to by end of December. what we’ve learned is to be patient and persistent in following up with USCIS.
