Were you asked any questions related to public charge?
For those who recently had an EB-3 immigrant visa interview, were you asked any questions related to public charge? For example: * Where will you live after arriving in the U.S.? * How much do you expect to pay for rent? * What is your salary? * How will you pay for health insurance? * What will you do if your employer’s health insurance does not start immediately? * How will you support yourself before receiving your first paycheck? * Do you have savings or other financial resources? * Do you plan to apply for any government benefits? If you were asked these kinds of questions, could you please share what the officer asked and how you answered? I’m preparing for my EB-3 interview and would really appreciate hearing about recent interview experiences. Thank you!

Hi everyone! Looking to connect with anyone in a similar situation, especially F1 India applicants. My father filed an I-130 for me when he was a green card holder. My priority date is January 9, 2021. He later became a U.S. citizen, so my case moved to the F1 category (unmarried adult child of a U.S. citizen). I’m Indian-born, currently in the U.S. on H-1B, and my I-130 is still pending. With the November 2026 Visa Bulletin, the F1 India: * Final Action Date is January 22, 2021 * Date for Filing is February 1, 2021 Since my priority date is January 9, 2021, it is now earlier than both cutoff dates, so my priority date is current under the Final Action chart as well as eligible under the Filing chart. Is anyone else in a similar situation where your priority date became current while the I-130 was still pending? * Were you able to file I-485 while the I-130 was pending? * How long did the Adjustment of Status process take? * Did you maintain H-1B while waiting or use the GC EAD? * Did USCIS adjudicate the pending I-130 and I-485 together? Would especially appreciate experiences from F1 India applicants with 2020/2021 priority dates. Thank you!
