it can take as long as three years for Permanent residents filling for spouses. Priority is always giving the USC, unfortunately. Did you apply for EAD/AP to allow your spouse work in the meantime?

yes i did have a EAD card.

Great! Just hang in there. Pre-Covid, it took as long as 36 months for Permanent Residents. I'm sure with COVID and all the recent backlogs, it's even worse.

my spouse gonna have an citizenship interview next month. if he pass and we update to CR1, will it be faster?

I'm not sure! You might have to contact USCIS directly and update your case, at which point they will ask you to send proof of citizenship.
