Visa Screening requirements for nurse already in US!
hello all!
I am waiting on my i-485, and it is the only thing I am waiting on. I'm a US nurse and already working. I am assuming visa screening is required. if yes, what is the minimum ielts score? anyone done this and needed it visa screening at all? please share the experience. Thank you!

i did my study back at home, but I am a RN here in States now.

did they not sent your visa screen when they applied your i485?you might get an RFE if they did not. you might want to start processing it since it takes a while for all the paperworks to get processed. Minimum overall score is 6.5 and 7 for speaking.

quick question what if I did my nursing school here do I still need the visa screen?
R GFeb 26, 2023
i think visa screen is a requirement for foreign educated nurses only since it is a credentialing service to make sure the nursing degree met the US standard. But i could be wrong.

it this for English requirement - what if you
trained in an English speaking country in Europe - do you still
need. visa screen?

i think you still need to but they will probably waive the english exam(ielts/toefl) part of it.

Hello fellow RN here. I can confirm that VisaScreen is REQUIRED even if the foreign national received RN education within the US. I’d urge you to start the process immediately because CGFNS is very particular with their document requirements (many people have to redo or resend docs multiple times until accepted) and they are infamous for being extremely slow. My VisaScreen application took 6 months to get completed because the docs were sitting in their mail room for months despite me calling multiple times. They said they were “short staffed” because of covid but this situation was not much better pre-covid either.

Visascreen is not the only option now. Josef Silny and Associates is faster than Visascreen of CGFNS. I got mine in a week after they received my documents.

@polar bear, is that accepted by USCIS? I'm not familiar with that, so could you explain a little more please, thanks!

Yes it is accepted. Instead of doing cgfns visascreen you can do Josef Silny Visa4Nurses. They are faster and cheaper. And you can try PTE instead of IELTS it is easier too.

I also studied in states and am working. Got RFE on visascreen which hasn't been applied. Thought it's only for foreign educated Healthcare professions. Application is getting ready.......
