you need to send a letter to Vermont office by post. until your vawa is approved, you won’t get a work permit. mine took 4 years (2017-2021) but that was because of errors from my lawyer. when I withdrew counsel and started working on my case myself, I got a response that my vawa was approved 2yrs ago(2019)! I. e processing times was less that 2 years but I didn’t get the approval until 4yrs after applying. (2021) contact your congressman/woman ASAP! request expedite of your i765 with proof of loss of healthcare/finances etc. finance alone is not sufficient !

You should definitely give them a call to find out whats happening. Im doing vawa as well, I've been doing this for 125 days know, i already have my social & work permit, i have my second court in a few weeks.

vawa cases are top security for your own safety and not all uscis officials have access to your file. no office will ever give you a response on phone! write yourself. they won’t even respond to a 3rd party on hour behalf. only your lawyer if you have one, and you must sign the g28 allowing your lawyer seek information on your behalf, in writing. vawa doesn’t send people to court. you only get a court case if your vawa is denied and you are in removal proceedings or your previous case type landed you in that. let’s give detailed and educated information if we are to help each other and not instill unnecessary fear.

My court date is for me to present all the evidence that i suffered domestic violence, to show i went to school, how long ive been in the us & all that good stuff, to apply for the green card. Im doing everything with the help of a lawyer.

@NP , just my 2 cents ; if you have an approved vawa with c31 ead, this should cancel your removal proceedings. unless if you’re still on a different category of ead. check with a lawyer ASAP. www.avvo.com has lawyers with free and prompt responses if you don’t have a lawyer or need a second opinion. I hope all goes well with your case.

I called the office in Vermont but they only talk about the status of your case, I can't talk to a human being... my lawyer says that unfortunately the only thing is wait... I'm a nurse I can't stand this life here anymore, I want work, I want to live!

if you applied under c09 you should get the work permit within the processing time , if it’s under c31 then you have to wait until the vawa application is approved to get the EAD card .

I submitted i360 in may 2017. got prima facie for 6 months July - dec 2017 prima facie renewed Jan - June 2018 July - Dec 2019 Pima facie renewed Nov 2019 RFE received. Due feb 2019 ( missing birth certificate) Feb 2019 i765 renewal submitted c9 rfe submitted March 2019 : i765 c9 rejected with letter stating c31 was approved based on approved vawa. ( no vawa approval received) ead received March 2019 c31 category another i485 applied based on approved vawa aug 2019 Sept 2019 biometrics Nov 2019 ead renewal on c31 submitted March 2020 ead approved and card received. (c31) Nov 2020 ead renewal filed in c31 ( still pending) May 2021 FOiA request May 2021 ( letter sent from uscis asking me to expect RFE for renewed medical. old one expired ) May 2021 FOIA file received June 2021 c9 ead renewal filed based on approved vawa as seen in FOIA July 2021 contacted congressperson Aug 2021 vawa approved with approval notice after congressperson intervention ( to request approval notice, expedite forms and infopass) sept 2021 infopass to local office approved and infopass appointment next day ( i485 is now has been transferred to lolocal office from Vermont. awaiting interview date. priority date is 2014 - date of my initial i485. ) awaiting approved i765…

@Krish, I didn’t withdraw my file from USCIS, I withdrew legal representation due to several errors made by my attorney whom I was paying heavily! everyone, you see, my case took a while and is still in process but I’m hopeful. i am not an attorney or legal representative but I have learned a lot of things in this process. please use all the help you can , to avoid such delays. hopefully you have an active lawyer who is interested in helping you succeed. best wishes to everyone on the immigration journey

@ Diego, it is a free service. google ‘House of Representatives’ for your state e. g in google search , enter House of Representatives or congressperson for Missouri . then enter your district or check under the map. that’s how I found mine. I’m not sure if there is an easier way …

I sent an e-mail to the person at the congress they returned me 2 weeks later and told me that there is nothing they can do because the corona virus has delayed a lot .. my lawyer says it arrived and not an update .. no ssn, n work permit… 😭😭😭😭
