VAWA
I have a VAWA case against my ex wife. My pd is Oct 2020 and I already received a prima facie and EAD. I know the wait will be long when it comes to my case and I don’t mind waiting. My problem is not having a green card when I finish nursing school.
My girlfriend is a nurse. She wants to petition for my green card through marriage. We are a little confused about the situation though. I know that if I marry again, my VAWA case will be canceled. Would it be worth to marry again and start the process through marriage? She is a US citizen.

If I were you I will just wait. as long as you do have work permit you can still renew and use it even if you finish your nursing school. What if you re marry and things happen your girlfriend decide to withdraw the case?keep your Vawa where you don't have to depend on someone.

keep vawa, so you won’t depend on anyone.

Since you have EAD and can work. no point remarrying.

I had the same situation and it restarted my whole process, once you get married you have to start all over again! I applied through my husband in March 2018 and I just did my biometric appointment a few days ago! in my opinion I don't think it was a smart choice for me.

Get married if you want to, but don’t file for marriage based. The longer you’re married to your new girlfriend, it will be enough time for you to prepare for another concrete filing in case the vawa fails. just file taxes with the new spouse, take pictures, have joint accounts and insurance. When the vawa comes, good for you, if not, you will then file for marriage based. it’s always an advantage to file after proven 2 years of marriage because you’ll get the 10 year greencard straight away without conditions. I think that’s a better and wiser option for you. if this second marriage fails again, you’ll be messed up! for good!!

I’ll always go with my vawa if I were you but the thing is this, is the approval of i765 (ead) a good assurance that the i360 is going to be approved?

yea I'd say no to the marriage, your vawa gonna give you 10 year greencard and marriage gonna give you 2 years greencard with conditions. and you'll have to start all over again and depend on someone who have control over you again. so I wouldn't trust anyone with my life like that. girlfriend or not. their not family
