travelling while case is in process
hi, my case N-400 has been filed on April 26,2020 and had biometrics done after a year on June 2, 2021. I haven't heard anything since then. I'm planning to travel overseas in August for 3-4 weeks. how can I obtain travel document to be assured that I will be admitted back? my green card has also expired ... where do I need to file the form to get approval and how long does it take? thank you

if you read his comment you would notice that this person probably has an expired 10 years green card and has been a pr for a while to be able to apply for n400, I suggest you apply for formi90 to renew ur green card

hi guys thank you for all your responses. I had my 10 year Green Card and I sent paperwork for renewal in 2019. after 11 month I called them and they said they had never gotten the paperwork. i had the UPS confirmation that it was delivered but since it was almost 11 month ago they couldn't do anything. that's why i decided to send for Citizenship bc my green card was already expired. it's been 2 years since then... Does anyone know how to file for a travel document? and how long do they give you permission to stay outside the country?

If your green card expires, or is about to expire, while you're waiting for citizenship, you don't need to worry. The USCIS has created Form I-90 specifically for the purpose of replacing an expired green card
