you’d need a visa stamp on your passport to re-enter US again. you’d need to go through interview process at any embassy outside of the US to get the stamp

no worries! I’m not too sure about the latter I-485 situation, but from what I know, you’re a legit O1 visa holder once your case is approved and you have the approval notice I-797. You’d only need a stamp when you travel in and out of the US. I am a second time O1B visa holder and recently got my stamp at the Abu Dhabi embassy. So as long as you’re within the O1 valid period, you can go on the site to fill out the DS160 form to schedule for an interview. And you can get an O1 visa stamp on your passport within a week or two, then you should be able to travel back in! But double check with your lawyer for sure, good luck
