Still waiting for EAD Renewal…
Looking to see if anyone has had any luck getting a I-765 processed in Vermont lately (to give me some hope!) Receipt notice for my basic renewal is March 5th, current EAD expired August 31st and had zero luck trying to expedite my case even with involvement from Congressman.

I've been waiting since February 9th. Still nothing yet.

Was your application a stand alone renewal too? They are doing them in a random order (saw someone from 30th March get approved) which means it seems entirely down to luck and not logical processing!!

so once the 180 day extension ends does one stop working ? apply for unpaid leave? can someone share their experience?

Some categories are not lucky enough to even get a 180 day extension! That is only a handful of categories. It will depend on the employer - I lost my job as a result of the delays. Had another failed expedite request since then too.

Nothing at all I am afraid, except another denied expedite request! I have no idea what they are doing there but it is not processing EAD renewals in a timely fashion!

You would think so…. but given the lack of progress on various tracking apps like this (who knows how reliable but all we can go by since USCIS provide nothing!!) they have no been processing many EADs lately. Fingers crossed there is good news soon!

my EAD renewal was approved today!!!!! oct 23 after 11 months+..... applied for renewal since Nov 13, 2020, 180 days extension expires today Oct 23 and my card was approved today, I am overly joyful!!!

That’s great - and shows someone is working in the Vermont office at least (I was having my doubts!) most categories don’t receive the automatic 180 extension, mine does not, but with things taking so long I really don’t know why it is not extended to all EADs.

Emma - sorry to hear about your experience. I lost my job in September and been waiting since January 2021. My case was moved to Vermont 2 weeks ago after my expedition request denied by the Vermont office - so someone must be working.. following this thread, be curious if anyone is having any luck!

hey Emma! did you get your card ? what was your congressman timeline ?
y
y kNov 22, 2021
yes true these days not many EAD are getting approved what could be the reason for this ?
E
Emma HNov 22, 2021
Hi @Princy - my March application has had no action but my July application got approved on Friday (with my i94 dates, my March one would expire January so already had to apply for my next EAD while waiting!) which shows there is no logic to their processing order! I reached out to many politicians and only one responded pretty quickly, but USCIS denied him too within about 2 weeks. I also contacted the Ombudsman for support who can look into cases - but they see themselves as a “last resort” and have to have exhausted every other method.

@ emma how did you approach uscis ombudsman I emailed them two weeks back no response
E
Emma HNov 22, 2021
The ombudsman are there to help if you have the documentation and have denied expedite requests, contacted a politician and have lost a job etc - so if you have all that on record would definitely give them a try.

@ emma I have approached congressman one week back and no update yet

Emma HNov 22, 2021
I filled in the online form and attached all the documents I had to show I had tried everything else, they got back to me in a few weeks and asked me to wait for the response from my congressman before they would help - which I had already received. I didn’t hear from them again but that is likely because I don’t even need an EAD anymore after the recent legislation was changed for E2 spouses. Howpfully with E2 / L2 renewals not being required anymore that will speed up other categories at US offices too.

@ Emma I did sent an email to ombudsman two weeks back no reply from them

@ Emma what was your reason of denial via politician?
E
Emma HNov 23, 2021
I think the ombudsman are swamped with all the delays so it may take longer right now. Their reason was just the same as expedite requests - that USCIS didn’t see job loss as a valid reason to expedite EAD. I have seen other processing centers expediting for the exact same reasons or less, but Vermont don’t seem to approve for anything.
