if your removal proceeding is administrative closed, USCIS does not have the jurisdiction of your status adjustment. You will need to have the court to terminate your removal proceeding before USCIS can adjudicate your 485

if you are in removal proceedings, USCIS can only approve i130, because they don’t have the jurisdiction on i485, only the judge has the jurisdiction, if you have your i130 approved, the judge can terminate the proceedings on behalf of i130 approval. then you can take the termination letter to USCIS to reopen i485 to make a final decision.

arnaud : your I-485 is not denied but administrative closed ( it’s not the same ). they can be reopen again once ur removal proceeding has been terminated

@arnaud you can go to EOIR WEBSITE and enter your “A” number to check if you are terminated or you have any future hearings,

@abii Abii yes way back in 2010 and then my case was administrative closed in 2015. ok I’ll call a court and ask about it.

@arnaud at this point I just hope and pray that you hear some good news about your i130 approval, and then you can close your removal proceedings and go back to USCIS, but make sure to hire a really good lawyer, talk to 2 to 3 lawyers about your case and get rid of court, because court process is really complicated and frustrating, and take a lot of time.

my officer told me she will make decision in 30days now it’s 18months but thank God today my lawyer told me my removal dismissed by judge so am making fast way to CIS to adjudicate my i485

UPDATE: my removal proceedings was finally terminated few days ago so now I’m eligible to reopen the I-485 to get my GC. hopefully it don’t take long

@Aydot my lawyer is going to reopen the case for me. how long it usually take for uscis to respond and issue the GC.

UPDATE: they approved my I-485 today 05/20. I should be receiving my GC any days now. thank you everybody for the help.

@AlmostThere I didn’t need to do an interview again since I did one in February 2022. and yes as soon they reopened my case, the following day they approved it.
