Processing times
This warning is now showing up on the USCIS website where checking out processing times.
“ALERT: Starting Nov. 1, 2021, processing times will be based on 6 months of data instead of one month. You can read more about processing times on our Case Processing Times page.”
Anyone know what that means?

They will use 6 months worth of data to determine estimated time range it takes to make a decision on the application.

thanks! thought for a moment they wee increasing waiting times
Denis RenNov 12, 2021
@sofie Morris is that a good thing?

I’m not the only one who is not getting the meaning…

does it mean faster?
Don TomaNov 12, 2021
IMO it does not affect how fast/slow things get processed. It only changes the way the processing estimate is calculated. Rather than using data from the last month only, it uses six last months’. It may change times being showned, but the real processing pace should not be affected.
John BimskyNov 12, 2021
it means the processing times should be more accurate - they now use 6 months of data to calculate the estimation (vs 1 month of data)
Denis RenNov 12, 2021
@john that makes sense
Sophie May M.Nov 12, 2021
It has nothing to do with actual processing time. This change will update the estimated wait time based on more data. Those numbers are just references for us so people can plan ahead and send applications early/on time. If it took USCIS 30 days to approve the case last month, their website used to say that minimum wait is 30 days. Now, if anytime in the 6 month it took them, let’s say, 15 days to approve the case, the website will say the minimum waiting time is 15 days. Is this good or bad? I don’t know. We won’t see the most recent data but more data paints a more accurate picture

The current processing times they publish are bullshit anyway so who cares
Ana RobertsNov 12, 2021
@Rocco Forte.. exactly 💯 🤣

I wonder if they are doing that now because the wait times are getting longer. So the new processing times (based on 6 months of info) will look better (shorter) rather than just showing the average of 1 month’s info.
