your husband can add you in his health insurance

enrollment is November and my baby due November, plus we not even sure if they would cover me immediately

He can add you to his insurance as his wife - he needs to show them your marriage certificate. A few things qualify including marriage, so he can add you anytime outside of the enrollment period - he already should have added you, if you are married. You would become a 'public charge' if you used medicaid, it is welfare. Thats my understanding of it all. Good luck!

you can have insurance for your baby before he is born . and by that you will be covered

Also, yes the coverage would start on the same enrollment date once it is all put in their system.

Waiting PatientlyJul 13, 2022
we didn’t have to wait until open enrollment with Blue Cross. I didn’t have my papers yet and they just added me as a spouse. I don’t think we even sent proof. Blue cross said when I got my social security to let them know and in the meantime they use 000-00-000 for the social security number. I was pregnant also but it was immediately covered. Just call his insurance company and ask what can be done.

also husband is citizen wouldn't get on his insurance either

Victoria, marriage is a qualifying event. If your husband has health insurance on his job, yes you can be added. If he doesn’t, then he would have to wait until open enrollment to sign up and add you.

I would advise you start working on any alternative outside your husband insurance if you come across any immediately. Medicaid is not public charge. You can ask your lawyer if you have one. I and my wife were in this same situation few months ago. Our jobs didn’t offer insurance, my wife is not a citizen not up to 5 years in residence so we didn’t qualify for Medicaid either. For your husband to add you in his insurance if it is through market place, you have to meet special requirements and conditions . Being married is not enough, your marriage has to have happened in the last 60days (not sure of the number of days), please verify the conditions for those special events that would allow you enroll outside November for market place before you depend on them. Also, market place enrollment opens November but your insurance coverage will take effect on January 1st of next year. We were lucky to come across a family clinic that has agree to cover all cost for both pre natal and delivery services (all labs, scans and blood work, everything included). Thank God for that. Please ask around, search online and see if there is something similar in GA. There are also some insurance company that would cover existing conditions like pregnancy and your premium would be based on your income. Also search for that. From my observation, information is power in this country. I wish you all the best

Don’t worry about delivery, with or without insurance, they will deliver your baby. You will reach an agreement with them after on how much and how to pay if they want you to pay anything. But you need proper care for the prenatal. You can also go the department of health in GA and speak with them. They might have other resources available to you outside Medicaid. My lawyer told me that Medicaid is not public charge so please ask one before you take a decision on that. I’m not a lawyer. I could be wrong.

check with your local health dept. when it’s time to deliver or if you have any concerns go the the hospital and get checked out. most insurance will back date services up to 3 months. sound like by November you will have been married 60 days if that is the issue. hospitals also have programs that can cover up to 100% of the visits. if you have a Now Care, you may have to pay up front but against ask if they have any financial assistance. either way…. please never let money keep you from getting any medical help for you and that precious baby. call your local immigration office, get in contact with your community and see if anyone can assist. there is so much help out here that people are just not aware of. sometimes you have to put in the leg work, but it will be worth it. make a list and call around. God please bless, protect and provide for this family with all their needs. in Jesus name. Amen🙏

Usually the clinic can apply on your behalf. Go to a hospital OBGYN clinic and tell them you have no insurance. As a former Application Assistor, you’re automatically approved for MCAD when you’re pregnant REGARDLESS of immigration status
