Need help on Interview status
Hi friends,
Need help from the community of friends.
Let me first thank this community for providing useful information and motivation during this stressful period while the GC is getting processed.
Our Green Card interview was on 28-Oct (Thursday) morning. The officer told us that it will be quick as our case was having all documents . It went really well and the officer took just 15 minutes as he said he had all the information. When I asked him when status will change online, he told us that if he enters details today (Thursday) the online status will update within 24 hrs and if on Friday then two days later. when I asked him when can I expect GC, he said it usually takes 2-3 weeks. We didn’t specifically ask him if he approved. May be that’s our bad luck. But hos body language suggested he has approved.
It is now 5 days since our interview and the status still shows that interview was scheduled (this status is as of 9-Sep-2021).
we are not able to understand if we misunderstood what officer said as we felt that he approved our case. Is the case still under review? Or has he approved but online status updates are not happening for us.
We are really worried.
Please share your experience so that we can understand what really may be going on.

normal. even if they tell you that at the interview. they have up to 4 months to give a decision. yours is probably just sitting at the bottom of the pile while the officer tries to clear whoever’s above you. if you think that the officer said he’d approve you then you just gotta wait it out. if you pass their background screening and stuff you should be fine

on a normal base they have 120days to make a decision on the case and not to worry if the office said everything was good then you will be approve

Thanks bro O J. The officer gave indication that we were fine and he didn’t have any tricky or even any kind of questions that one May term as difficult. But the delay is concerning. Thanls for empathy.

background checks can happen before during or after the interview. I’ve heard officers run it during the interview and some say that they will have to do background screening before making a decision. the ‘approved on the spot’ cases are the people who passed their background checks before the interview
