n400 while 1-751 pending
Hello,
Looking for help.
📆I had my greencard in October 18th 2018.
🖊 Filed for I-751 In July 2020
✉️Received extension letter valid for 18 months on July 22nd 2020.
👆🏼Biometrics Appointment in June 2021.
❓Application still pending (13 months)
🏯Service Center YSC.
🙋🏻♂️Would I be eligible to submit a N400 Application for Naturalization in October 2021 while my I-751 is still pending⁉️
💡 I have been under a permanent resident status for almost 3 years. There is N400- USCIS Filing Calculator that says I am eligible.
🤷🏻♂️I paid 3 different lawyers for consultation they all advised me to wait to for 10yrs GC on hand before submitting a N400.
🙆🏻♂️🙄🤯 What should I do?

yes you will be eligible and you don’t have to wait if you don’t want to. The only thing is that you will get to have a combo interview and it maybe delay your case because they are most likely going to transfer it to NBC

yes thats what my lawyer told me. he suggested to wait because applying while 10yrs GC is pending can cause delays and most likely an error from the UCSIS! 🤷🏻♂️
I am so confused I dont understand why I have to wait and assume that if I dont they will do an error and delay my case

n400 takes less time than i751, apply for n400 and you can have a combo interview, will be faster for you. Good luck!

you should apply for citizenship, it will trigger ur 751
Linda UlasiSep 9, 2021
you should go ahead and apply for N400

I filed i751 jun 2020 Potomac service center
and N400 jun 2021 last week my i751 transfert from Potomac to national benefit center.
Potomac timeline is 20 to 22 months for i751 and timeline increase every month by the time the i751 will be ready the n400 perhaps should be done that’s why I filed N400 cause Potomac is very slow
Jhoo631 jhooSep 9, 2021
@M R did they transfer your i751 to national benefit center before they approved it? or they processed it at Potomac
would you mind share your timeline please?
ale ianSep 9, 2021
why would they transfer the i751 from Potomac to the National Benefit? I read online that my n400 will be processed locally in West Palm Beach
Linda UlasiSep 9, 2021
that’s where a lot of people that have filed for N400 while having a pending I-751 said their case was transferred to. Then when they set the interview, it will be in your local office
Jhoo631 jhooSep 9, 2021
@ ale ian no immigration case is processed at local office
local office is only for biometric and interviews
the only transfer your case locally when is ready for interviews

I filed my i751 in March 2020
it was transferred to NBC October 2020
I filed my N400 in June 2021
still waiting on both
ale ianSep 14, 2021
@h s processing center?
H SSep 14, 2021
Vermont then it got transferred to NBC
ale ianSep 14, 2021
@ H s good luck! I heard that n400 can’t be approved before the I-751. Others had a Combo interview.. every case is handeled differently and I feel like it’ so so confusing!
Finally I made my deicision and I will be applying for N400 while I-751 is pending. Finger crossed 🤞🏼

I've seen various things on here and reddit with some getting combo interviews some getting one then the other. I just want anything at this point because my 18 month extension expires soon
ale ianSep 14, 2021
yeah this wait and uncertainty doesnt make any sense! did you use the help of a lawyer to apply for n400?
Waiting PatientlySep 14, 2021
hey @HS just a heads up that that the 18 month extensions are now changed to 24 months due to processing times. Please google ‘uscis 751 news’. We should all be receiving extended notices soon
H SSep 14, 2021
oh wow thanks I had no idea! hopefully that comes soon
H SSep 14, 2021
@ale Ian I did it myself. applied online, uploaded everything possible.
