Congratulations! did you file under the five year rule?

you had the interview on Dec 20 2021 and the decision was given on April 07, 2033. is there any reason it took almost 4 months to take a decision?
b
balaji vApr 28, 2022
I filed under 3 year rule married to USC. I got my interview scheduled on dec 20th 2021 and date of interview was January 27th 2022. I had a successful interview but decision wasn’t made because of A-file being not available for review. so it took about 70 days after my interview for approval on April 7th. My oath was scheduled for April 26th and I became a citizen of this great nation after I took my oath two days ago

Balaji v, congrats. have you filed for you FOIA
b
balaji vApr 28, 2022
josh, yes i did file FOIA to speed up the process and I believe my experience says it worked. as soon as my FOIA got processed, I received my N400 approval within a week

what’s FOIA stands for ?
b
balaji vApr 28, 2022
freedom of information act. please google USCIS FOIA. you will find the link and more information. it’s a process to request your immigration related information from national records center. sometimes your case is pending because the officers need your information and it is stuck at NRC. FOIA helps unstuck the information. at least in my case and a few others cases it did.

@balaji v, how long does it took from filling the FOIA to have your N400 approval or interview
c
creg jApr 28, 2022
I filled my FOIA 2weeks ago and am still waiting to have it processed completed.
b
balaji vApr 28, 2022
it depends on which files you requested. I did two FOIA’s. one for my I751 and N400 applications. it took 3 weeks. I did another FOIA for my entire Alien file. that took like 5 weeks from filing.

Ok I also did request my A file for my N400. so immediately after they completed processing the A file you were given an interview
b
balaji vApr 28, 2022
I requested FOIA after my interview. officer issued me a letter saying a decision cannot be made because he has no A file to give a decision. so to speed up my decision, I applied for FOIA. and it worked for me
b
balaji vApr 28, 2022
I don’t think getting an interview is not dependent on your A file being available. it usually depends on the availability at your local office and case loads.
Abc SinghApr 28, 2022
@balaji whay they took long time for decision on your n400 that what i guess because may be you have your i751 also pending when you have your interview... so officer can't approve n400 until you don't have approved i751 before it... so may be uscis now waived your i751 interview and then they did approved your naturalization.... thats what I'm thinking about long wait for decision...
b
balaji vApr 28, 2022
Abc Singh, my I751 got approved last year June itself. the interview officer wanted to see my whole A file and it’s not available with him. so he waited until he got it to approve my N400
Abc SinghApr 28, 2022
okay... actually I'm in the same boat... I filed my i751 in February 2019.... since May 2019 my case is ready to schedule an interview... in February 2022 I filed n400.... biomatrics and photo reuse....but in March and April I received two emails from uscis that Action taken on your case... but so far no update... should I file FOIA? I'm very tired to wait i751 for more than 3 years

@Abc Singh yeah I think you should file FOIA. it won’t hurt to try.
