Interview Date
Does anyone know how long it should take to schedule an interview in the Ankara, Turkey US Embassy? Our case has been documentarily qualified since October 2021. Thanks in advance

My case has been DQ'd in Ankara since April 2021. I applied for an EB-2 visa with NIW.

IR1…I’m a citizen and we’ve been married over 2 years so it’s a green card without conditions

Has anyone actually scheduled an interview in Ankara? I’m wondering how long from DQ 59 interview. Thanks!

hello, what’s the timeline for us citizen spouses to get an interview in anakara after DQ?
Carrie KayaSep 12, 2022
@a o my husband’s petition was finally DQed last week. We have searched everywhere for information about the wait for an interview and can’t find anything reliable. Apparently the Turkish version of the Embassy website says 3-8 months but we don’t know when that was updated. I’ve reached out to my Congressional representative, my lawyer’s network, searched endless message boards and have nothing. Please update if you find anything! I’ll do the same.

@Carrie how long did it take to get DQ?
Carrie KayaSep 12, 2022
@areama saleh - 9 months! first, my husband’s birth certificate and Turkish background check were rejected. Then they requested my marriage termination documentation (I was previously married).

@carrie kaya - we are in the same boat. My wife’s was DQed last week as well. I think our spouses will get the interview within the same timeframe. I can’t read Turkish but I’m glad you shared that info. I’ll keep y’all posted on when I get a interview response.

also, for those wondering, it does not matter whether you are in Turkey or not. I asked the embassy. Turkish do not get preferential status in their embassy. What matters is the type of visa you are applying for as some of them have a higher priority. A couple of months ago the embassy in Turkey was not accepting foreign application and transfers unless it was a sensitive circumstance but that has changed. To my understanding, after email replies from the nvc. They mentioned, evey month the embassy sends appointment slots the nvc. Then the NVC appoints those slots to the visa categories until there are no more slots for the month. I’m not sure if there is a limit on how many visas must be allocated per certain category. I think there might be, if you check the monthly issued visas per category you will come across the same question. If not then all US petitioners would have been allocated without leaving room to other visas. Hence, I asked if anyone had an interview already, to have a better idea in the time frame.

@a o any movement on your case? I’ve heard from a FB chat group I joined that they think interview letters will go out next week. Wveryone there thinks Turkish citizens are processed faster than third country citizens, and my lawyer’s colleague in Istanbul agreed.

Good news everyone..my husband had his visa interview and was issued his visa. His interview date was a year exactly from being DQ’d

@carrie kaya do you know why his birth certificate and Turkish background check were rejected?
Carrie KayaDec 6, 2022
@merve merve He had to get a stamped copy from the local government rather than the downloaded background check from edevlet. For the birth certificate he submitted a “live birth” form and he needed a “life events” certificate.
merve merveDec 7, 2022
oh i thought edevlet counted, good to know.. can you submit more than one thing to the site just in case they don'taccept one.. for example get a copy from government and edevlet and upload it on nvc?
t bDec 20, 2022
@merve merve I submitted all forms downloaded from eDevlet and I was DQed with no issue. The USCIS page says to use eDevlet for your paperwork, such as birth certificate, police and military report. It even gives you the specific report name to research.
