interview
hello, we filed back in June & was received June 21st, 2021. my husband is NOT currently living in the US.
does the I-485 ONLY need to be filed if the individual is living inside the U.S.? or should it be filed even if the person is not inside the U.S.? as I know I’ve seen where others have filed both the I-130 & the I-485 concurrently.
also, now on the USCIS website on my account it has a notice with an exclamation point inside of a triangle that states, “you may not change your address while in this part of the adjudication process”. it’s never said that before & I was not intending on changing my address, but this notification wasn’t there a couple weeks ago. does this mean things are pushing along? or is it just sumthin USCIS has posted?
thanks!

just file I-130 if your husband is outside US and he would have to go through consular processing once petition is approved. I-485 is for people inside US.
Don't worry about the address thing. it means nothing. if you need to change ur address, you can do so by submitting a request or calling USCIS

okay. whew! yes, that’s what we did. just filed the I-130. now just the dang waiting. thanks for ur response!

he should be approved soon. all the best

yes, that’s what I thought as the processing times on the USCIS website said it shoulda been approved already. but, my hopes aren’t up all that high. after looking on this app, it’s taken people 2-3 years to get approved! i pray that’s only bcuz of the pandemic!

don't worry, mine got approved in 106 days only at Nebraska service centre

I think they are moving along I have the same message on my case and it was not there a few months ago too and someone I know got approve recently who had that same about not changing address at this stage of the adjudication process
dee wJan 24, 2022
‘hopefully soon’ exactly yes, that message!
..and Satish Singh - it’s been 210 days for us :-(
dee wJan 24, 2022
also mine is at Nebraska center as well
dee wJan 24, 2022
and thank u Satish Singh! much appreciated!

@dee I think the mere fact that they are giving that warning is suggestive that changing it might cause some delay in ur case adjudication
dee wJan 24, 2022
@hopefullysoon..I agree. that’s what I was thinking as well.we just keep praying

My husband filed an i130 i485 for both myself and my minor son. I am in the US while my son isn't. What u have to know is the I485 has two purposes. Adjustment of status and Application for permanent residence. So yes, if you are doing the combo then file both.
