i485 interview under vawa
Hello Families,
I just came out from my interview few hrs before. my vawa was approved on Oct 15th 2024 and I have a pending asylum.
the officer didn't ask anything about my vawa. the first few questions related to i485 was my personal information like my full name, dob, address my kids, my parent and my ex husband name and dob and the remaining were a yes or no questions.
once we completed the i485 form she started asking about my asylum. what ever I stated in my asylum application she asked me here too not deep though. she asked me if I ever detained, why how and where and how long and she printed out the paper and asked me to sign.
Finally she told me that she will try to finalized my application by end of this week. and she told me to wait patiently for my greencard if it didn't come with in 4 weeks of approval. I'm not sure if her statement is a confirmation for approval or not. my lawyer told me I got approved. Inshaallah I will get the approval soon

@naomi bushira in case of asylum did you tried to withdraw your petition since Vawa got approved. and did you had asylum interview ? mine is same case scinario . needs to be prepared

@Vawa 2022 applicant No, I didn't withdraw my asylum. my lawyer told me not to withdraw. it is still pending and I didn't do any interview for my asylum. but in my i485 I checked the box that asks if I detained or not and I said yes. she asked me why how and when ... I provided all the information and again she asked me the same question again to confirm. even she printed out my asylum details and asked me to sign and when I read my statement she wrote the wrong date and I asked her to correct the date again she added another wrong date and asked me to sign. I told her to correct it again respectfully. I think she was checking if I remembered what ever I said in the I interview

@D A The officer asked me if I brought her any document other than what she has and my lawyer gave her the last four yrs of tax return forms. that's when she spoke with the officer. I'm making more than 300k annually and my lawyer insisted to show my tax return to the officer as it shows a good moral characters.

@Vawa 2022 applicant , My interview was for vawa based greencard not related to my asylum. my asylum is pending in immigration office.
