You need to file N-400 as you are eligible under the 5 year rule. That will revive your I-751

Of course you can. You will be applying under the 5 year rule not the 3 year rule

That means you have been a permanent resident for 5 years and eligible to file for N-400 under the 5 year rule. Your lawyer is doing you a disservice by asking you not to file
