from asylee AOS to marriage AOS
I am an asylee who applied for AOS. Since green cards for asylees are taking forever, I agreed with my wife (USC) to submit an I130 and change my AOS application to a marriage-based one. My lawyer said that you cannot have two I-485 in the system so he will request a transfer of underlying basis from grant of asylum to marriage to US citizen. Anyone who experienced that? and if yes, what about processing time concerning the transfer? Thanks

I don't think so I have I485 from asylee itiil pending and I summit I130 +I 1485 my case is new ready for interview

To me since you were already granted asylum you would have waited and adjust with your asylum Bc if you are not granted through marriage then what will you do

i see at least it will be better for you to have green card from your wife not asylum as you might face problems traveling back home!

I was thinking the same. I am asylee and waiting for gc for 24 months and I believe it will take a while. I got married a few months ago and I was thinking can I change my status?! please inform us, I wonder ur experience

@h k if you have already been granted asylum I will not advise you to file for green card through marriage again you should just adjust through asylum

@quircky turnover Bc if you have been granted asylum and you apply to adjust your status to get your green card through approved asylum you will be granted even if the process takes long but you apply to adjust your status through marriage and it’s not approved or it get complicated then what? beside it will look like you are desperate to get a green card my any mean . that’s my advice
