my lawyer asked me for $1000 too. Filing is free according to what people say on here but these lawyers are thieves, I know it’s painful but it’ll advise you to just pay the money and let him/her handle it for you just like I paid my lawyer also even though I had numerous very important things to do with that money like pay my past over due tuition. But we wouldn’t be in this position forever, someday our time will come, but if you really don’t have the money then I guess you could ask questions and do it yourself………

I did my renewal myself. its straightforward. you can do it yourself to save money.

@user 124 please do it yourself. it’s very easy and straightforward. you can file and submit it without any issue. that money is free money to lawyer and they will give it to their PA and that takes about 15-20mins and boom done. please save your money and don’t waste on a lawyer that doesn’t care about you. if you need help you can use YouTube and ChatGPT it will guide you well trust me. best of luck 💪🏽

@user 124 do it yourself. Is nothing difficult. Read the instructions and follow what it says.

I didn’t have to pay cos I submitted via mail but I think it’s $260 online cos I tried to do it online. I heard online is faster though.

My lawyer requested that I pay $1500. I did it myself and got approved exactly 6 months after. So, I’d suggest you do it yourself

@user 124 At least your fee is $7k, my lawyer charged me almost $10k…. yet still requested $1000 for renewal at the end of the day it’s your decision if you wanna give him the extra $900 or do it yourself

@user 124 if you have a copy of the old i-765 form (current ead) re-use that one, that’s exactly what your lawyer will do just change the dates and signature then refile. save yourself the $900 and any renewal doesn’t cost you money. just attach a copy of the i-797c from your i-485 to show you are renewing the work permit. and also make sure you print out the latest version of the i-765 form or do it online if it will allow you.

I filed all my forms. super easy. don’t pay any money to these corrupted lawyers. you should spend those $900 on yourself and your close people.

I paid 20K for my lawyer and he initially filed C31 EAD. it's been 3 years now I have asked him to file C9 he is asking me $2500. 😢🔫

@blessed & favored there is a mix of info online - some saying you have to pay $470 for filing while others say no , i am confused. Is attaching the I-797c an indicator that its a renewal?
