EAD Renewal E2 Spouse
My EAD expires Oct 18, hoping for approval before that. can’t lose my job again :(
Last year I applied for my renewal in August and my EAD was expiring in December. I ended up losing my dream job ☹️ I got my EAD card in January again and my boss ended up rehiring me. When I got my card I was so excited, only to find out it was only valid until October 18, 2021 ( because my I94 was expiring then). I hadn’t gotten my I94 renewed due to travel restrictions due to COVID.
So now I am going through the pain and torture of waiting again. Feeling I will lose my job, again, twice within 6 months. and this time I can’t expect my company to rehire me. This is all so upsetting 😞
I meditate everyday to stay sane. And reading about people’s approvals in this community keeps me hopeful 🤞

What is your ead category? Doest some of it extend to 180 days if you apply for renewal before expiring?
Hopeful GirlAug 26, 2021
No mine isn’t eligible for that, I’m in the A17 category
sunflower 🌻Aug 26, 2021
ohhhhh shit :( can you expedite it ??
Hopeful GirlAug 26, 2021
I tried it got denied. Losing a job isn’t good enough a reason🤷♀️
Hopeful GirlAug 26, 2021
Its so weird that if you use a job letter to get expedited it usually gets approved but if you already have a job and tell them you will lose it, it’s not good enough. Like what is their thought process here? lol makes no sense to me
sunflower 🌻Aug 26, 2021
nothing makes any sense to me. Showing them you have a job that you can lose because of ead expiring should be more than enough for them to expedite it. I wish each of these officers could go through the shit we go through every day honestly.. And they tell us we can’t apply to renew it earlier than 180 days but it takes them at least 200 to process something smh
Hopeful GirlAug 26, 2021
I know the processing times on the website are a joke. EAD isn’t even valid for that long! I just got off a call with my boss, and he promoted me. I’m not sure if I should be happy or not knowing my future is not even in my control right now 😢 This forum is so helpful, I feel like sometimes even family members find it hard to feel the pain even though they are indirectly getting affected too. Just want this nightmare to be over for all of us so we can move on with our lives

yeah the processing time is a joke, and what’s more upsetting is that a lot of people get to have their cases processed way faster than some people who applied before them, it doesn’t make any sense. Even though they’re at the same FO. Everyone in my family keeps saying “have faith” “be patient” but it’s so agonizing when you’ve been praying and being patient for soooo long. I’ve been in this process since April 2020.. I’m tired….
Hopeful GirlAug 26, 2021
I know it’s something you only understand if you are going through it. Praying you get yours soon! Wow 2020, what is your application for? My August 2020 application was approved in Jan. Makes no sense how yours is still pending if it was before mine
sunflower 🌻Aug 26, 2021
Yep, and it’s frustrating. Im an USC spouse, so I applied for ead and I130 and i485. I had my interview in may and then my I130 was approved on the next day, but I haven’t heard anything for the permanent residency (i485) since. It has been 3 months, and I see many people getting their green cards right after interview. I have no idea why mine is stuck. It might be because I was on a F1 visa when I got married, that’s the only thing I can’t think..

I don’t think there is any logic , rhyme or reason behind anything unfortunately. it would help us applicants if there was a set process but that’s not the case. did you do premium processing? We are going to be filing our I130 soon as well. Are you able to go through your congressman?
sunflower 🌻Aug 26, 2021
yeah i think it would be so much better if the case status showed where your process is and what’s happening to it, like, “ your process has been sitting behind officers table waiting for a background check” something like that. And I haven’t tried congressman yet cus all I hear is I must wait until 120 days to do something. And no I didn’t do premium :(
Hopeful GirlAug 26, 2021
Yeah that would be brilliant!I don’t think you need to wait any days to get congressman’s help although it might be different with i485 cases. Which state are you based in?
sunflower 🌻Aug 26, 2021
I will wait until it hits 120 and then try it. Also they were like “ your case is still in processing time “. I’m in New Jersey, how about you?
Hopeful GirlAug 26, 2021
Yeah I tried to open a service request and got the same message. I’m in California. Not seen many people from CA on here so I have no clue what’s going on🤷♀️
sunflower 🌻Aug 26, 2021
yep, and also your type of EAD isn’t as common as most of the ead’s here, so idk how they process the cases but it should be separated by types but obviously it seems like they don’t do that..
Hopeful GirlAug 26, 2021
Lord knows 😃 All my stresses will be over if mine gets approved before October. Just taking one day at a time so I don’t lose my mind
sunflower 🌻Aug 26, 2021
I feel you! Just know that you are not alone 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Thank you, you as well ❤️

Hi, I'm applying EAD under E2 spouse as well. My file date is 5/24, and I'm still waiting.
Did you take the fingerprint when your first time application?
chloe mSep 25, 2021
I’m also E2 spouse- filed in April and nothing. any idea on timelines? I’m vermont though. seems like E2 is less common, so hard to guess when it’s going to get approved. I lose my job next week :(
