EAD Renew - 180 days
Does anyone know if they have been adjudicating EAD renewals before the 180 days automatic extension ends? Or if they would accept a expedite request in case the extension is about to expire (currently employed). My EAD extension will expire on May 10th 2022 and renewal was submitted on September 2021, Texas Service Center (SRC). thanks,

My 180 day is about to expire on 2/22 and am waiting on reply for expedite request (congressman and ombudsman have been involved). We sent in the extension at the beginning of August. Nothing yet. I am however L2 and will get my i94 updated so that should give me a few more weeks (potentially two more years if visa extension gets through in time).

My Company gave me 6 weeks no pay leave at the end of that I have to reapply

don’t wait until the last minute, try to contact your congressman and tell them you will lose your job. you need to submit necessary documents to increase your chances of expedite approval

I tried the Congressman, Senator and on my own to expedite, no luck to date. This is causing us so much stress. Our home now has no income and we have no valid Driver's license so we can't drive.

i will use congressman if needed but the lawyer that habdles my case (big law firm) said they have been having sucess with expedite request for renewals inside the 180 days. Who knows? it all seems a gamble.

for driver license try to renew it as AB 60. that worked for me. did the congressman request expedite processing for you? if yes, when was the request made?

I requested expedite before the extension expires and they denied it without asking for documents. I hope it will work for you with a lawyer
K SamFeb 10, 2022
@li ha yes I filled out the forms and submitted a detailed letter with our expense, my leave of absence letter, and my husband job offers an that got us no where.....

it’s crazy I’m on a leave status at work for 4 months. I wish they gave us more extention
K SamFeb 10, 2022
@ li ha, it's simple in my mind, if the back log is so great, just extend the 180 days to a year, this will make it easier for ppl to continue their lives. How are we supposed to get by with no job or valid ID? We filed on time when the processing was 60-90 days.

@kizzy sampath I totally agree with you. I hope that all of us will have good news very soon!

This. Extension of the 180 days to let’s say a year and then automatically do two years to all new cards (which they partially started). because otherwise we and USCIS as well are stuck in a rut.

or even go as far as people who are seeking AOS of any kind to let them work. you want us to be contributing members of society so help us to be this.
K SamFeb 10, 2022
@Sarah Bee I totally agree!

looks like USCIS could approve premium processing for EAD soon. at least its on a few law firm websites. $1500 fee
Sa BeFeb 11, 2022
interesting…. almost a good thing that my old one expired I guess (because you can only do premium when filing, not during the process).
R
Ruy FernandezFeb 11, 2022
not sure. i ready somewhere you can submit the form for premium at a later date as well

unfortunately it’s not a law yet

I think they have 90 days from December 10th or so on to make up their minds. and don’t think it includes implementation yet.
