driver’s license
hey everybody!
Im waiting on my case - 485/130/131/765 - marriage base USC. My priority date is April 12 2021 - NBC but the local FO will probably be Raleigh, NC since that where I live.
A friend told me I can get a temporary driver’s license with my Receipt notice from USCIS. Anyone know anything about it?

we got temp license, but that was for renewal of driver license.

I got a TVDL but I’m in IL check in your state you don’t need the receipt numbers just proof of address

Was wondering the same thing for Georgia. I have an expired license from my home country and got a learner permit from when I was living in NY, but now I moved to Georgia but I'm afraid of using it because I don't have a SSN.

i have driver’s license here in California even without SSN nor GC valid for 4 years, AB60 driver’s license. i think u have it there also in your state, check with DMV. Other state also have that program. Driver’s license regardless of immigration status.

@queens Q I don’t have a SSN yet but I have a valid driver’s license . I stay in Georgia. All I do is renew it. You may call the customers service of driver’s license in Georgia and ask them questions. I’m sure something positive will be done.

NC is pretty strict about that. Unfortunately in NC there’s no way you can do DL without SSN :(

I went to the Dmv today in Georgia, the lady told me I have to have a SSN to transfer my NY permit. She looked very puzzled that I even had a permit without a SSN.

@queens Q oh wow, I guess it’s needed for transfer of drivers license interstate. I’m surprised though.

I hv a drivers license though no SSN. I guess it’s a new requirement maybe

I second Oli Kreh. NC doesn’t even recognize your country’s license. wait until you have your EAD ,SSN or GC to go to the DMV . I am telling from experience

@queens Lawrenceville DDS got my drivers license since 2018, but I kept renewing , I was on B1/B2 visa then, 2019 changed to F1 but still no SSN . I just renewed my drivers license in April, 2021 . we just filed my i485, i765 a week ago.

yes you can get a driver's liscence on that basis
