I think there are many waiting for a final decision to be made and without any proper online update on the case status as of now.

I mean they wouldn't just throw ten thousand approvals at once on the last week of September, they would gradually approve everything they can. I hate working on weekends as much as everyone else but how else would they process everything?

correct Sergei. uscis is highly unpredictable right now. they are slowest ever in history with approving I-485s this fiscal year. I agree they may not just approve 10s of thousand at once, but again we never know. they have to make use the most of visa numbers to the best possible. but they have already committed that they are gonna waste atleast 80k visa numbers. disappointing already!

USCIS is an archaic system, most of what they do could be automated and all filing moved online but they prefer to receive papers and have people examine the papers sheet by sheet. such backwardness.
