Do not expedite many times!
I just learned something today. I didn't know expedites delay a case. The USCIS just explained to me how it happens because when you expedite, your file is pulled out of the processing and after review and they ask for evidence they still put it on hold. Then take back if they've denied. You expedite again it's pulled out of case processing. Now I'm here 10 months no EAD😫😫😫 with a total of 6 expedites!!

Based on a pending I-485 adjustment application

I expedited 3 times and got approved without any evidence. I was just lucky but it's wild that they'd pull your file out
E
Emma JacksonJan 17, 2023
@Addo. congrats. yes file has to be pulled out to be reviewed

I’m still waiting for an answer on my expedite request. I expedited on January 6th and I haven’t heard anything since….
E
Emma JacksonJan 17, 2023
Sean, my last one I sent the fax they've ignored
Sean CoxJan 17, 2023
Oh well that’s just spiffing isn’t it? Nothing like paying a federal agency $1760 - which stretched our family enough, only to be ignored and slow walked!
E
Emma JacksonJan 17, 2023
I know. trust me I'm mentally broken too because of this. Can't drive can't do nothing
Sean CoxJan 17, 2023
I filed my case back in August and all I’ve gotten is my biometrics completed and that’s it. Well, if I don’t hear anything by next week I’ll assume I’ve been ignored too. And if I don’t have my work permit by March 10th I’ll be contacting my local congresswoman (Tammy Duckworth) to see if she can get this joke of an agency to pull their finger out!
E
Emma JacksonJan 17, 2023
mine is March 10th so unfortunately you might be lucky or not. 10 months now for me
Sean CoxJan 17, 2023
Have you contacted your local congressman/woman? Your case is definitely outside of normal processing and therefore eligible for investigation to see what the hell is taking so long. Contact them, and they’ll help you mate.
E
Emma JacksonJan 17, 2023
Sean I did the very first times not now. I can't even file an inquiry with uscis until March 5th which will make it a year
Sean CoxJan 17, 2023
That’s so dumb! What state are you in? If you don’t mind me asking of course.
E
Emma JacksonJan 17, 2023
Texas
Sean CoxJan 17, 2023
I’m in Illinois. Even people immigrating to the UK don’t experience this much of a delay. The whole process is done in 6 months.
E
Emma JacksonJan 17, 2023
They don't for sure. it's ridiculous. I'm tired abd exhausted
Sean CoxJan 17, 2023
I hear you mate. The system is fucked. Theirs no first come, first served basis in place. The least they can do is send out a courtesy letter every so often letting us know where our case is and the most recent updates as opposed to just leaving everyone in the dark. Or, as soon as USCIS accepts your case, give them automatic work authorization.
E
Emma JacksonJan 17, 2023
Exactly what pains me more. no first come first served. The ones who came last gets it first
Sean CoxJan 17, 2023
Well I just spoke to Emma (coincidence lol) and ultimately to a live agent. They said once evidence is received regarding an expedite request, theirs no time frame on when a response can be issued on said request. So, my wife has to incur further financial loss as she’s the only one supporting our 6 kids, maintaining the roof over our head, paying the bills, paying the rent etc because this agency doesn’t take expedite requests seriously?
E
Emma JacksonJan 17, 2023
Sean yes that's what they say all the time

jack jackJan 17, 2023
saw this right after I submitted my expedite request 🥲 shouldve just stayed put… I was gonna request on the basis of job loss but idk how it’ll affect with I864. I mean I had to use a joint sponsor too. I’m really worried now

@Jack jack relax, the main post mentioned about not to keep doing it, however, every case is different and people have different needs and situations. What applies to you doesn’t necessarily apply to me entirely. So taking in the information, but still do what you gotta do if you see it appropriate to fit your needs. Even if that’s what you don’t need to do, done is done, better knowledge for next decision you make. We’re in the same boat so don’t add stress to yourself. It’s hard enough for most people. 😅

Hi Emma, I never expedite my case, I still waiting no EAD PD March 15th
E

E

E

Yes Moon. March 5th and it's not a guarantee we'll get a response soon. it's just sad

Emma, have you received any update? I just requested an expedition for the EAD eventhough I want the travel authorization instead so I can go see my family back home that I haven’t seen in 4.5 years. when they ask to fax evidence, what kind of evidence do you need to send them? I already lost my job so I can’t submit that I’ll lose my job as the reason anymore :/
