CR1 VISA // Interview Experience & Outcome
Hello everyone,
My husband recently had his CR1 visa interview.
He was asked the typical questions like how we met, when did we get married, etc. They also asked him what the occupation of our joint sponsor was.
At the end of the interview, the officer told him that he will receive his passport back in one week. He was placed in Administrative Processing due to a denial of an ESTA three years ago. The officer said they needed to look into this further.
I am wondering…does this mean in 1 week we could find out that his visa is approved? We are concerned because this was not an approval, but it was also not a denial.

not to discourage you but I wouldn't trust 1 week thing. I was told the same and I was in ap for 4 months. my story is different from yours and I hope you will hear from them in a week. all I'm saying that he might be in ap a bit longer.

It sucks bc I am moving states and my time zone will be even further from my husband’s then…I don’t understand why they put couples through all this. We have gathered everything for them and have paid enough.

@magic m 1) How & where did you meet your spouse? 2) Do you have children together? 3) What do you and your spouse do for work? 4) What is your joint sponsor’s occupation? 5) When & where was your wedding? 6) Where do you plan to stay in the USA?
Questions like that! I was not there, but this is what my husband told me. If he remembers any more, I will post them.
Surprisingly, the officer didn’t even look at the photos he brought. He also printed out text convos that weren’t even looked at. You’d think they’d want to see more proof.

@Anna Balcaceres We never got any exact explanation as to why his ESTA was repeatedly denied. We appealed the denial, but it was rejected. A worker said it’s an automated system so it’s based off a computer pretty much. She said she’s seen cases in which someone’s name or personal details were too similar to someone’s on the Do Not Enter List. Seems a bit unfair if you ask me. The lady made it sound like AI made the decisions.

What is crazy is that my husband came 1x on it with no problem. After that, he could never use the ESTA program ever again. He did not overstay.
I hope everything will work out for you. If you have a denied ESTA, they will ask you about it. Sadly, it is the only reason my husband has been placed in AP…

@Mariana ♡ Thank you. After 4 months they said they are not satisfied with one of my pcc, so I have to obtain a new one. But it's complicated since I changed my last name and I don't have records of my previous residency. we are working on it and pray that God will help us to resolve this issue. We are waiting since Aug 2022, and it's so frustrating. I feel you. May God open doors for you and you can reunite with your husband soon. hang in there!
