change employer after 6 months from filing
does anyone out there have experience changing employer prior to getting the I-485 approval? I am about to be past the 6 months period from filing and was wondering if changing jobs and employer is an easy process.
thanks

USCIS requires you notify them immediately if you move so that they can reach you. But if you change jobs, it should not impact your processing (people change jobs all the time).

After 180 days from your i-140 approved, you can do the supplement J for portability of jobs. Just find another company to sign the form i485j. Make sure you will work in the same job position as says on your i-140

I changed employer after 180 days of my I148 pending and I140 approved, and it was okay.

@Monique Did you send the form to USCIS once you started working for that company or did you show it on the day of the interview?

is it compulsory to submit 485J at the time when GC is current date?

@monique Did you have your green card interview or not yet? If you had, could you share your experience how it was?

not yet! I got my EAD and travel perm, but I in retrogression 😭

if you have an approved i140 and a i148 pending more than 180 days you can change and don’t need another I140.

yes, just send to immigration the j supplement. I did the process with an attorney.

another company purchased my company so, I had to file i485j portability. I submitted i485j during green card interview and I got approval 12 days later
