This is just a guess, but it could have to do with the country you’re from and how easy or difficult it is to complete your background check in that country.

they says pending for background check when the case shows red flags. but there's no reason to deny the case. and that's when the waiting game start. l have more than a year waiting for decision. it is just because I was married before. they are doing the delay on purpose. playing with people life's.

also as per my research in this process, if the color of your skin is not wite , probably your case will be handled more closely. ( personal opinion).

Then mandamus it is. My lawyer said I should wait till I'm outside normal processing time before filing for mandamus. That will be soon....

@LP LP, you might be right. My case is also over 500+ and still reviewing- I-130, CR1&IR1. I recently inquired about my case and they said they are conducting security check. I thought it was because this is my 2nd marriage and also a person of color…now I’m connecting the dots.

anyone travelled abroad while case is pending with background check ? how was the experience?

so i485 focus on the background of the beneficiary or the marriage. or is the 1 130 is for the relationship focus?
