Anyone Done Asylum-Based I-485 Interview? What to Expect?
Got my asylum-based I-485 green card interview after 8 months. What should I expect in the interview? What kind of questions do they ask? Any tips?

They only ask what was said on your form. I had my interview very quickly (I entered in February and interviewed in April) in May I received a NOID (because they didn't understand if our case fit the asylum rules) we answered the noid and we've been waiting since then. We entered with the work permit and only one day after it was approved. We look forward to good news.

@p e is this for i485 or for i589? can you elaborate on what you mean your case does not fit within asylum rules?

@S R depends on the officer. they can ask just about 485 questions. the BBC an ask some facts about 589 form or prior visas….it’s very broad,but i would repeat everything so u remember everything….
can you tell us your timeline?you’ve applied in January 2025??what country are u from?i know that they have updated their “interview criteria”.

@good human @i l 589, I'm sorry I read it quickly and didn't notice that this is a different case. For asylum you need to fit into at least ONE of their criteria, in my case I am from Brazil and my husband is an investigative policeman, we fled from a criminal faction, they claimed that our fear is linked to his profession and we tried to prove that it is "political opinion" which is one of the criteria for asylum, after all my husband was an honest policeman who fought against corruption within a system that is 100% corrupt. Our case is going very fast, we entered in February/2025. USCIS told us that our case is true, but they are in doubt about which criterion we would enter.

@Mohamed mouhoumed I applied in December 20, 2024 and about 8 months got my interview for green card…. and asylum granted in November 2023
