Case Processing
what should be my next step
hello everyone,
I wanted to share my process and maybe you guys can tell me what to do.
I filed my VAWA petition (I-360) March 2022.
I received numerous prima facie throughout the years, USCIS requested evidence last Sept , in 2025. and since then I haven’t heard anything from them.
I’m over the limit of time , but when I call they can’t give me any updates .
I asked congress to contact USCIS on my behalf and they have , and the also haven’t received any news and is been over a month.
5 months ago I also filed for I-485 and I-765, they requested biometrics and that was it .
and now I’m just sitting waiting for some news .
is anything else I can do ?
Emma live agent
is it just me or does it seem like the chat to a live agent becomes almost impossible these days? they ask you how they can help and when you send them your questions they just answer you with a generic answer and cut off the conversation.
we have passed the normal processing time (80% mark) but still before the 93% mark as this one keeps on shifting each month. it was November 2026 and suddenly it is june 2027.
what else can we do to get them to look at our cases?
RFE: Public Charge Ground of Inadmissibilty and Medical
Hi all, I received an RFE to respond to public charge ground of inadmissibilty. I need to respond to questions like household size, income, degree, certifications, and whether taken any public benefits. Is there anyone with similar RFE?
If yes, would helpful to know whether I answer the questions (multiple choice) and return the same notice along with medical in the same envelope? or need to create a copy and send separately?
Thanks in advance!
WOM, San Francisco Bay Area
I am planning to file WOM. I was planning to do Pro Se and almost have the WOM ready but I had a last minute thought of getting some professional help.
Do any of you know a good lawyer who specializes in WOM in the San Francisco Bay Area? I want to find someone with good experience and record with WOM.
I am still debating between- should I just get a consultation to have the WOM I prepared reviewed and do the rest of the work myself or hire a lawyer for the entire process.
Also anyone from the SF Bay Area feel free to reach out to stay connected for our immigration journey as sharing any information might be helpful.

Filing Writ of Mandamus Pro Se After Long USCIS Delay — Need Guidanc
I’ve already completed the pre-mandamus process with my attorney. A demand letter was sent to USCIS giving them 60 days to respond, but unfortunately, I still haven’t received any meaningful decision.
The only recent movement on my I-130 was a status update saying, “USCIS is currently processing your case.” On my I-485, I received a silent update related to the FBI/background check, but nothing further.
I already completed my marriage-based green card interview on April 7, 2025, and I have been waiting ever since without a final decision. At this point, the continued delay has become extremely frustrating.
Because I cannot afford to hire another attorney to file a federal lawsuit, I’ve decided to prepare and file a Writ of Mandamus on my own. I understand that filing pro se is a serious step, but I feel that I have exhausted the other options available to me. Unless I simply continue waiting indefinitely for USCIS, I don’t know what else I can reasonably do.
This feels like my last option to hopefully get USCIS to take action and make a decision on my pending case.
If anyone has successfully filed a Writ of Mandamus pro se for a delayed I-130/I-485 after completing their interview, I would greatly appreciate any suggestions, guidance, or personal experience you can share.
