Is $7,000 reasonable for a WOM/Mandamus case for two people?
I’m trying to decide whether to file a Writ of Mandamus (WOM) for my pending I-485, and I would really appreciate hearing from people who have recently gone through this.
I filed my I-485 on November 20, 2024, and I still have no decision or meaningful update. I had already waited around 4 years after my asylum interview before finally receiving my asylum approval. After the approval, my wife and I filed our I-485 applications, and now we have been waiting again.
I recently called my immigration lawyer because I feel like I have been waiting for a very long time. The lawyer offered to file WOM cases for both me and my wife for $7,000 total, including fees.
However, the lawyer also told me that USCIS currently shows approximately 34 months for the processing time, so they believe there is a low chance of success if we file now. They basically said the court may consider the cases to still be within normal processing time.
For people who have experience with WOM/mandamus:
* Is $7,000 total for two people a reasonable attorney fee?
* Does the fact that USCIS processing time is currently around 34 months make a WOM significantly weaker?
* If my I-485 was filed in November 2024, does the fact that the posted processing time was much shorter when I filed matter?
* Has anyone filed a mandamus in District of Massachusetts while their case was still technically within USCIS’s current posted processing time?
* Did your attorney charge a similar amount?
* Did filing the WOM actually result in USCIS taking action?
I’m not asking anyone to tell me what I should do. I’m mainly trying to understand whether $7,000 for two cases is a normal/reasonable fee and how much the current 34-month processing time matters in a case like mine.

premium processing
I filled my eb2-niw process on Nov 12, 2025 with a famous law firm. Today I asked about the possibility of using premium processing to get a faster answer. They did not recommend me using PP, saying the rfe and denial rates skyrocketed in the last 10 months for PP users,, and if I still wanted to use PP I should sign an acknowledgement letter saying I was advised not to. Is this even legal? I would like to hear your opinion on this. Should I still go for PP?
H4 I-485 Rejection and Fee Refund (Rejected after Ingest)
Hello,
Just wanted to check if anyone here received such rejection? I have received this notice (one pager) for my daughter however didn’t receive back the full package of documents and wondering if it will be delivered even. It has been more than a week now.
This case was rejected with reason of incorrect filing date since it was resubmitted afer a correction while filing date was not correct.

Hi guys, I’m new on here and new to this filing thing but I’m just putting this on here since I’ve been following some you guys journey about filing process.
I’m a regular visitor to the US for many years now and I came on a B1/B2 visa.
Married my boyfriend in August 2025 (we were both 23 at the time, and we did it when I was visiting him here on a whim. We’ve been in a long distance relationship for about 3 years; I’m from Jamaica, he’s a US citizen through naturalization).
I went back home to Jamaica less than a month after we got married and came back up as a visitor in December 2025 to spend Christmas together since that’s what we always do and I became out of status around June 2026 since I was still in the country due to my passport and everything being stolen in January. Here’s our timeline:
**JULY 7, 2026** \- FILED our I-130, I-485 and I-765 concurrently in July 7, 2026 due to situation and wanting to just start living together.
**JULY 18, 2026** \- Biometrics scheduled
**AUGUST 13. 2026** \- Interview scheduled
**September 21, 2026** \- Interview Day and Approved; Service Centre was the National Benefits Centre but we had our Interview done in Orlando
Tbh, my husband and I were more on the chilled side until we were in the interview. But we spoke the truth. Told him I worked here illegally at least twice since traveling here from 2016 or so. And I legit didn’t have anything here in my name except a bank account. We didn’t have anything joint or nothing, except me being on his life insurance, we legit just went in there with just photos of us from 2022 till today. We showed pictures on our phones as well and that was it.
Our filing consist of just the forms, couple pictures, trips, his tax documents, and a joint sponsor from his mum.
All that to say, I know it seems bleakly for some persons especially if you think you have nothing with your partner, but who knows, just give it a shot. It may just work out for you if you guys have lots of history together ( as much as we weren’t concerned as much, I did compare myself to all I’ve seen from others on here with what they always had in their own filings).
**Ps**. What more than likely helped was the fact that we were once schoolmates when we were younger so that helped with familiarity and genuineness.

H-1B Extension RFE After I-485 Approval and Green Card Issuance
Hi everyone, I’m looking for some guidance on my situation.
My I-485 was approved on December 19, 2025, and my physical Green Card was produced on December 30, 2025.
Before my I-485 approval, my employer filed an H-1B extension in October 2025. The H-1B extension was still pending when my I-485 was approved.
Today, September 22, 2026, I noticed that the H-1B extension case status changed to “Request for Evidence (RFE).”
Has anyone experienced an H-1B RFE after their I-485 was already approved and Green Card was issued?
Does this RFE require a response, and can it have any impact on my already-approved I-485/Green Card?
I would appreciate any experiences or guidance. Thank you!
More than 2 years after filing and 8 months after Interview
PD july 2024. interview Jan 2026. Silence since then;( not sure why it’s taking so long. I submitted e-request but they saod it’s within normal processing. any insight is appreciated:)
