Case Processing
Nj central(Cranbury) FO
Has anyone recently filed a mandamus lawsuit because their case has been stuck at the New Jersey Central (Cranbury) Field Office?
My case is paper-based, with a receipt number other than IOE, and it has been pending at Cranbury for quite some time. I’m wondering if anyone with a similar case type/receipt number has recently filed mandamus and, if so, whether it helped move the case forward.
I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience, including how long your case had been pending before filing and what happened afterward. Thank you!
July silent update on form I-485
Did anyone from the people who got the silent update in July heard back from USCIS or got any updates? by silent update I mean the same old notification appears with a new date. These silent updates are indication that the case was touched by an officer to probably refresh the background check, and get the application in the decision que. I’d like to hear from you if you got any updates further from the silent update.

VAWA I-485 Pending — Anyone With a Similar Timeline?
My VAWA has been approved, but my I-485 has been pending for about 15 months. Biometrics were completed in February 2026. No RFE so far. I also submitted a service request but haven’t received any meaningful update.
Has anyone with a similar VAWA-based I-485 timeline been approved recently? How long did it take after biometrics? I’m also considering a writ of mandamus due to the delay and would appreciate hearing from anyone who has taken that route.

scared after SSA visit
Hi
Sorry for the title, what happened is this:
I’m a granted asylum derivative, and I have been waiting for EAD for 2 years without a SSN.
After active searching and look ups, it was said that I do not need a EAD to apply for SSN, an approval letter of granted asylum should be fine because it contains tear off i94
I went, and the things got taken in, and the staff made a copy of my foreign passport and my granted asylum paper, said the system will need to check my i94 because it was not verified immediately, so should take around 4 weeks (or longer) to check.
I’m scared if I messed anything up, and I’m a bit regretting that maybe I should have waited for EAD to be ready in the first place.
I might need someone to tell me if I was doing wrong or not, should I worry like this?
Is it also normal that the i94 tear off on the approval letter does not have dates on them? Just words of “VALID FROM” and UNTIL
Notice of intent
I got a message from USCIS about notice of intent to revoke my already approved I-360. Though I haven't got the notice to know the reason. Has anyone received such message? What did you do?
Thank You all.

Mandamus Lawsuit
I have a pending VAWA for over five years with no updates or any movement whatsoever. I’ve been receiving my prima facie determination every six months.
I’m not extremely tired of waiting and I’m considering filing for a Mandamus Lawsuit. I consulted with two lawyers to check how much it would cost and one of them suggested I should wait. She said that with the current administration, if they denied my VAWA I would go straight to deportation.
So I wanted to ask to those who filled for Mandamus, if anyone got their VAWA denied and if you were able to refile it.
