Case Processing
Applications Recently filed
Hi! Guys, I mailed my I-485 and I-131 together. USCIS has already charged about $1,400 from my bank account, but they haven’t charged anything for the I-131. I also haven’t received my receipt notices yet. Is this normal? Does the I-485 fee being charged mean my case has been accepted for processing, or should I be concerned about the I-131?
I-485 Transferred to Los Angeles Field Office — How Long Did It Take to Hear Back?
My I-485 case was recently transferred to the Los Angeles Field Office. I’m wondering how long it usually takes to receive the next update after the transfer.
For those whose I-485 cases were transferred to the LA Field Office recently, how long did you wait before receiving an RFE, interview notice, or approval?
If you could share your timeline and whether your interview was waived, I would really appreciate it. Thank you!
How long does it normally take at NVC before being sent over.

help/advice
I am concerned and would appreciate your guidance regarding my VAWA-based green card case.
My VAWA petition was approved in September 2024, and I had my green card interview in May 2025. Since the interview, I have not received any meaningful update from USCIS.
My Congresswoman’s office has submitted three inquiries, but USCIS has provided the same response each time, stating that my case is still undergoing background checks. My attorney also submitted an inquiry, but we have not received a response.
I have personally contacted USCIS multiple times. I also requested a Tier 2 officer callback. I was told that an officer would call me, but I never received the call.
I recently asked my attorney whether I could file a writ of mandamus because of the length of the delay, but she advised that, at this time, we should not file one.
I am becoming increasingly concerned about the delay and would like to understand what options I have at this point. What would you recommend I do next?
Prima Facie Expired July 1
Hi everyone,
I’m looking to see if anyone has had a similar experience.
I filed my VAWA (I-360 & 485) in December 2021, and I still haven’t received any update on my case.
My Prima Facie Determination expired on July 1, 2026. In the past, USCIS always sent me a new Prima Facie 1–2 weeks before the current one expired. However, this time I haven’t received anything.
I checked with my attorney, and they confirmed that they have not received a new Prima Facie notice either.
My attorney and my congresswoman’s office both submitted inquiries to USCIS over 2–3 months ago, but there has been no response. Every time I call Attorney and Congresswoman , they just tell me to keep waiting, and I haven’t been able to get any meaningful information.
Has anyone with a similar December 2021 receipt date experienced a delay in receiving their renewed Prima Facie? If so:
* Did you eventually receive it?
* How long did it take after your previous Prima Facie expired?
* Did you have to take any additional steps?
I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience. Thank you in advance.
