EB1-A GC approved
hey guys, I’m here to say thank you to you all. this community help me a lot. I could have a better understanding what was happening with cases, and a better idea about when mine could be approved. As you guys know, the worst part of this process (besides be denied) is the waiting time, and you guys rocked on it. Thank you so much for all posts and comments, I could not say thank you enough. Now let’s go to my case I got the O1 visa on Aug 20, on the same year in September I sayers with the same lawyer to do the EB1-A process. On Dec 04 20 the application was submitted and on Dec 10 I received the RFE. When I received the RFE, two categories were approved: - Extraordinary Ability - Original Contribution On my application I still asked for: - Membership of exclusive associations which require extraordinary achievement to join  - A national or international prize or award for excellence or extraordinary achievement in your field  - Publication of material written by others in professional publications I thought that at least national or international prize they would accept, because on the company that I founded, we won several prizes/awards. Best app of the year in front of Uber and Tinder, best app of the year in the beauty category from App Store, best startup of the year in Brazil, 100 startups to look for 2016 and 2017. But looks like they wanted more a personal award, that I have. Best LATAM CEO 2016. But since I didn’t receive any money for it, looks like they didn’t count About the other category, publication of material written by others, I included publication from Forbes, Globo(major media player in Brazil), Veja and EXAME (majors magazines in Brazil). But again, since it was always about the company, even that it was me in the pictures, and in all publications I was mentioned, they didn’t accepted. Just to you guys have a better idea, I included in the application over 30 publications that I was mentioned. Since EB1-A is more used by doctors, scientists, I think they were looking for some more formal publications, like on Nature. So in Jan 4 I sent my RFE giving more informations about the above 3 categories, but I applied for a new one: - Judge of others' work in your field or a closely related field For this category I included all events that I was in the panel, like startup competitions. In Jan 20 21 I received the approval notice. On Jan 30 I did the medical exam, took all shots of vaccine they asked. In March 31 my application was submitted. It took all this time because in Feb 9 I started a new job and my lawyer said to me to wait the new O1 get approved, and them I would do the application for GC and Combo card. On Jun 14 I did fingerprints, the process is really fast, just picture and of course fingerprints. On Nov 04 I got the combo card approved And yesterday finally I got the GC approved. I did no interview, even though I thought they would ask for it. The reason I thought they would request interview is because I received the stimulus check when I did my taxes in the beginning of 2021. And I’m the end of 2021 I used Covered California for health insurance. So I talked with my lawyer about it, and she said that several of her clients had the same questions. Looks like that stimulus check is based in what was your income in that year, so since IRS approved, I would not have any problem. About covered California, she had some doubts, but since is something from the State and not from the Federation it will not cause any problem. So since my GC was approved yesterday, I suppose that actually it really not a problem if you received one of these benefits.
