work permit
hello there,
i have ssn with condition says that valid for work only with DHS authorization, and i need to apply for my work permit and there is a question says if i applied for work permit before what am I suppose to answer yes or no ?

By work permit they mean, have you ever filed for I 765 before?

i came with j1 visa with DS and i got my ssn in the US that’s all i can remember does j1 visa needs I 765 with it ?

after you status changes when you get your work permit, you need to fill another form from SSN called form5.. there they will update you status while you submit your form, to them you will show prove of your work permit.
so when filling I-765 you don’t need to fill yes

the answer is NO you have never filed for a work permit/I-766 your SSN is not a work permit/EAD card

put no but when you get to the ssn area note that you already have an ssn, and put in the info, you can choose to get an updated one with your married name. I had a ssn from J1 also.
