@baltimore make sure to take that termination letter to the local field office, don’t wait for your attorney to send to the USCIS, if you can, do it yourself, -copy of termination letter -and receipt of i485 and request them to reopen my i485, also request/ask them how much time it would take now.

taking that letter to the local field office will save a lot of time.

@Baltimore: Congrats. @Abii Abii: her termination letter will probably go to the attorney. And she will also need to add a letter requesting the reopening of the case. My attorney emailed me a copy which I printed out and brought to my appointment at my FO. My case was adjudicated soon after that. I verbally requested to open my spouse’s case which was closed because of mine, they haven’t opened it until now. It’s better to make the request in writting and to your local office.

@Abii: I wasn’t lucky enough to have my case terminated but blessed to have IJ granted me AOS. I had a merit hearing with IJ rather than an interview. So USCIS approved my GC exactly one month from giving them my court order and I received my card 10days after that. So now the struggle is with my dependent almost a year after all of this with EAD renewal app pending since June 21 at TSC.

During my many years struggling with immigration, forums like this have helped me a lot and continue to this day. @Mmls L: I’m not exactly sure. How long has it been? After I did it verbally for my spouse, my attorney said it’s better to do it in writing and sent a written one. But the mistake he made was he sent it to NBC when according to some people here and USCIS agent it was supposed to be sent the local office and after almost a year NBC hasn’t even touched it. So there is no clear cut on this I believe. Just get some legal advice.

@domino: He unfortunately refused to do so and wants us to keep waiting indefinitely 🤦🏾‍♀️. So we wrote and sent another request to our FO which reception was signed by their rep. We’re waiting for a reception notice and truly hope for the case to be re-openned by next month God’s willing. This crazy wait is painful.

try to involve ur local congressman aswell to inquire the case. hope for the best for u

@Domino: We already did. For the past 4 weeks after the notification of work stoppage, we’ve done ALL what we know and was advised to do to get both EAD and AOS moving such as raising SRs, request to talk to tier 2, request for expedite processing on our own and through congressman, sending request to reopen case to FO, request FOIA and so on. So far, we haven’t gotten anything yet other than the denial of our first expedite request. I can only pray and wait until the next move.

i was wondering if you can file for mandamus of writ ?

@Domino: that’s worth some thought. Need to research it. But I wanna relax this week and see where anything we’ve done so far will take us. The last 4 weeks were beyond stressful. Thanks a lot for your thoughts.
