This is my exact situation - Overstayed, Married USC then VAWA. Got my Combo Card and I have travelled twice now to my home country (Nigeria) and come back into the states with no problems at all. They take you to a secondary room for a couple mins when you get back to the states then they call you and give you your card - That’s all. PS: I have also travelled to Canada

Yes - It was pretty straightforward. I applied and made sure to include all documents to show my application is pending and then show I have a job here and flight back to US.

guys I have seen many people using AP successfully. but some negative comments low down your confidence.

@Sam Singh. You’re right - there are some negative comments but everyone’s experience is different. I read them and use those experiences to better prepare myself (just Incase) but I try not to let them make me less confident

&bah I - Yes. I just went on the website - https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/visit-canada.html. I just applied for visiting visa and submitted my docs and after a while they requested for my passport. I mailed over and they returned with the visa

@Sam.. they just asked me 1) why I am in coming into the states - I said I am resident here waiting for my AOS. 2) Where did you visit - I said Nigeria. Then he said.. You know we have to take you to a secondary screening room as a standard procedure and asked me to follow another officer. I said sure. They took me in, they were other people there. i sat for about 10-12mins and then they called me and gave me my docs and I left. And all three trips out of the country have been in the span of 1 year. I have another trip planned in January

hi GC: I am applying for Canadian visa as a vawa pending applicant. Do you need to submit a return flight in your documents while applying for visa? i want to apply just to visit the falls and some places. how did you apply?

Yes - You would have to submit a return flight in your documents while applying. I booked a flight - printed the details of the return trip and attached to my documents and then cancelled the booking (until I received my passport with the visa back). I went on the Canadian website and then just followed the instructions and applied. I also k clouded my pending AOS receipt letter in the documents when I applied. along with details of where I was going to stay. my bank account statement and job offer letter plus paystub (to show I work and plan to return to the US)

Thank you GC! I also applied by going over the website. It’s very self explanatory. I didn’t submit the flight ticket as I mentioned in my purpose of travel that I plan to drive and also submitted my US drivers license as a document which shows I can drive. I also submitted my last pay stub and latest job letter implying I have a job and finances for the trip and I will come back. Can you tell me how much time it takes from you applying and what the next steps are?

@bahi mansi.. Fater that the status will change and your passport will be requested for visa with instructions for how to send. it took about 10 days after biometrics for me

hi G C! i had my biometrics yesterday for my Canadian visitor visa and it has not been processed yet. any idea how long it takes to get the status updated and then they requesting passport for visa stamp?
