My question is, if I initiated my application within the initial 90 days of entry while holding a tourist visa, would I be able to change my status within the country? @Ronald Paz ,it's possible. Go ahead and apply. I know of several people in this same situation as yours and have gotten their greencards. I'm in the same situation and waiting for my greencard approval.

what if the first interview is done or master calendar hearing is done still you can apply for EB3 ?

keep your visa status and you will be ok and don't rely on the pending asylum
