New Social Security Card?
Hello everyone! I received my green card about two weeks ago.
However, when I applied I had selected the option to have a new social security card sent.
I have not yet received it and I’ve called the SSA office about 3 times already and they haven’t received an application for me.
does anyone know what I should or can do?
The ssa office also told me if I applied for one through USCIS then I can’t apply for another one again through them…
It’s so frustrating…

@domino 22 - I called them to ask if I need to come in and apply and they told me if I already requested one from USCIS/DHS that they can’t make another one for me

it takes about 4 to 6 weeks to receive it in mail

because I know many people in the same situation like you, when they go to SSA office in person, they be able to get their SSN there

you should go to the SSA office, thats what i did instead of waiting.

You have to go into social security to apppy. don’t bring up that you agreed to have uscis apply for you unless they ask. my husband applied 3 weeks after entry uni the US and ssn arrived about a week later

update… I decided to go to the ssa to update my card and I got it in the mail exactly 1 week later… thanks so much for the advice
