interview i-130
My husband and I attend his interview appointment for his CR1 immigrant visa, and the interview went well. He was handed back his original documents and the US visa Officer gave him a US form stating the righst and responsibilities for my husband once he enters America. However, he gave my husband his passport back and a yellow slip stating that the DOS in Washington DC decided to put our case in Administrative Processing. The US visa Officer took his DS 5535 form and told us it can take 2–3 weeks or months or up to a year. No additional documents were required from us. I want to know does anyone know when will the DOS in Washington DC reply so the US embassy could issue our visa?

would suggest hire a lawyer. but no one will tell you how much time will be taken by USCiS process.

in as much as the above advise is not a bad one, I would suggest you don’t engage a lawyer for now. 221g administrative processing can range between a very minor issue to probably your information almost matching with someone in a security treat list. The process must run regardless
A lawyer at this point will charge you money but can’t do much. Just give it a month or two first before you engage a lawyer to file a mandamus. Patience is a vertue and it can save you money at this point. Just wait a little

I also think hiring a lawyer for 221g this early would be a waste of money. I got 221g twice, once for my F1 and another for H1B. I had to wait 60 and 90 days. Hopefully it will be faster for you. If you didn't hear back in a few months you may be able to file a mandamus.

we were told it could take 2-3 weeks, we are hopeful on that and praying it could that amount of time or less.

we also had a good interview and then at the end form ds 5535 and they said it could take months, disappointing because we are in Abu Dhabi and my husband can not go back to Iran :( I don’t know what we are going to do
