okay. but I thought Nebraska takes between 6 and 8 months.

Unfortunately it took 13 months for a RFE response. Once I gathered everything and submitted it, within 4 days I got the approval. The question now becomes how long for the I-485 to get processed. The interview is going to be based out of the Istanbul US embassy.... fingers crossed 🤞🏽

I-485 is if you are i the US. If you are doing consular processing, you must wait for NVC to contact you

The USCIS website has a step by step on what happens. The NVC will contact you giving you a code to login to their website. You will need to pay for DS-260 and affidavit of support form. After they recieve it, you must complete DS260, and your financial sponsor must complete affidavit of support. Then it gets processed. After 3 months, it should be approved and then they send it to your consulate. You must then do the required medical exam, then attend the interview

Hi Flori! What documentation was requested in the RFE?? 🙏🏻 I’m overseas and my husband is US citizen. we thought we present all the document, but today we receive the notice that sent the RFE.

They wanted proof of joint bank accounts, papers showing you live in the same address (lease or deed showing both names), utility bills with either names, a power of attorney document in the event the sponsor or beneficiary are unable to be present for things like opening a joint bank account, open a utility in the other person's name etc , they also asked me for joint IRS tax return. My wife is overseas but you can still paper file a joint married return with a Non-Resident Alien (electronic filing cant be completed because the benifiary needs a social security number so instead you write Non-Resident Alien in the social security field of the 1040 and mail it in). Make sure all these papers are translated, notarized and apostille from the beneficiary's country.
