Coz after Uscis approved it they gonna send it to the NvC then from NvC to embassy. our case was approved feb2021 and still waiting for NvC to forward it to the embassy for interview Its Been over a year now still no update

The welcome letter doesn’t give you any instructions. It just says your case number, invoice ID, and the embassy that you chose. You will receive instructions from your embassy. You have to do the DS-160 when your CEAC portal and case says “ready.” After you do the DS-160, you can schedule your interview.

It depends on the embassy and their backlog. For me and my fiancé, it was at the NVC for almost 2 months and it took 2 weeks for the embassy to receive it and issue a “ready.”

I was approved from USCIS in late October. I received the welcome letter in early January. If your case has not been forwarded yet, it might be because your embassy is closed or backlogged. @ Erhiz

@ Jessica, sorry to bother you again. was your case number at the NVC starts with DMS? is k1 visa an immigrant visa or non immigrant? nvc sent my case to the embassy but i got confused when i looked at my case and it was under immigrant visa and it is ready. haven't heard from the embassy yet. its been 11 days. im confused, is it a mistake by NVC?

Hello N A, the 3 letters are based on your embassy. Mine is SNS, as my fiancé is in El Salvador. You can go ahead and schedule your interview. Complete the DS-160, pay the visa fee, and then schedule your interview and medical appointment. Some embassies send something and others don’t.

oh Jessica:) im embarrassed..yes it is Damascus...i thought the letters were like the i 129 which is wac. so, being under immigrant category is not a big deal?

The category that you (K-1 applicants) are supposed to be in is immigrant visa. The DMS is your embassy abbreviations. It changes to nonimmigrant after you attend the interview. It will switch to administrative processing and then issued.

But go ahead and start the process, don’t wait for the embassy!
