@Haney han Hi Haney. The officer’s questioning style during the interview was quite aggressive. Because I had not yet started working for my sponsor (although I will begin soon), he asked many detailed questions regarding my bona fide intent and requested supporting evidence.

@Brl li Yes, Because my first I-693 medical exam had expired, I needed to bring a new one to the interview. Fortunately, it only took about 14 days from the interview to receive the approval notice. However, my priority date had already been current for about a year, so the long period of waiting without any updates was very painful.

@Amin Goretz Thank you buddy. I am married, so that may also have been a factor. In addition, my sponsor company is located in a different state from where I currently live, which may have raised further questions. I will be starting work with my sponsor next month. During the interview, most of the questions were related to my bona fide intent, including my plans to relocate, my contact history with the sponsor, and the letter from the company confirming that the job offer is still valid and that they still need me.

@Danish Joseph No, I did not file a FOIA request. I did submit service requests and also contacted my congressman, but unfortunately neither seemed to have any effect on my case. My interview started about one hour after the scheduled time and lasted roughly 40 minutes. At the end of the interview, I was asked to sign my Record of Sworn Statement. One tip I would like to share: the officer will ask you to read the statement before signing and give you a chance to add or fix anything if necessary. That is essentially your last opportunity to clarify or add information, because you cannot change it afterward. While reviewing it, I noticed that some of my answers were written in a way that could be interpreted unfavorably, so I proactively added clarifications. Although the officer’s original notes cannot be changed, you can at least add additional explanations before signing. Interview was not waived.

@eb3 other In my case, fortunately my sponsor allowed me to join after approval. I also had medical issues and needed to undergo two surgeries, so I was prepared to explain why I didn’t start working after my EAD was granted. However, the officer only focused on my intent at the time of filing and my intent right after approval. They didn’t even ask why I hadn’t started working after receiving the EAD. As long as you can explain your situation with a proper reason and supporting proof, I believe it shouldn’t be a factor.

@Haney han I was F-1 and my wife F-2. After filing I-485, we remained in I-485 pending status.

@Mahmut Tuncearut Thank you for your warm message. The officer didn’t ask about it. However, he did ask me about my current job and salary. He didn’t request official documents, but he did ask me verbally.

@Bill : ) I I graduated from my F-1 school and submitted my I-485 application during my OPT period. After my OPT, I no longer maintained my F-1 status, so the pending status became my only status to remain in the US.

Was your F-2 dependent interviewed separately, or were you together?

@Haney han Separately. 1.5H after my interview with the same officer. However, I recommend going together and letting the officer know that your spouse is also waiting. My officer seemed like he wanted to see us at the same time, but I didn’t know.

If you don’t mind, could you please share what questions they asked your spouse?

@Haney han The officer didn’t ask my spouse any specific questions. It was nothing special, and the entire process took only 5 minutes.
